PSYCHMAGIK remix of KING SIZE SLIM tune rocks the summer
After hearing the KING SIZE SLIM record 'Live at the Man of Kent Alehouse ' Warner Brothers artists 'PSYCHMAGIK' have lifted the track 'Not Fade Away' remixed it, re-named it and re-released it as a Slo-Disco floor filler. Over the summer the tune was on heavy rotation at festivals all over the UK and Europe. The Psychemagik treatment of Toby Barelli's toasting style and country-fried harmonica received rave reveiws.

MARCH 2011
One Tree Music - King Size Slim at A Festival Near You
King Size Slim (Toby Barelli) has hit the ground running in 2011 with a run of solo shows in the West country, followed by pre-festival season warm up shows at Brixton's Hootananny, the Crawdaddy Croydon club and an East London showcase gig at What's Cookin'.
With festival dates booked at Glastonbury, Big Chill, Womad, Small World, Lounge on the Farm, Electric Picnic (Dublin), VINTAGE at The SOUTH BANK and several other gatherings King Size Slim launches headlong into a busy summer schedule.
Other, more grass roots, events which will see King Size Slim performances in 2011 are The Broadstairs Blues Bash, Hastings Fat Tuesday and the legendary Rochester Sweeps Festival.
King Size Slim...
.
.. is Toby Barelli - an explosive roots and blues guitarist moulding traditional standards and soring own compositions with explosive musicianship and a unique vocal attack.
Following the release of his new live album, King Size Slim is now touring with a new band as well as continuing his work as a solo performer.Fat Roots Boogie - A fat boogie style and sound delivered live and direct. This music, percussive and dynamic in its nature, melodic and soulful in its heart, shouts loud and kisses sweet. A potent combination of guitars, percussion and vocal performed with passion and belief.
With one of the busiest gig diaries on any music circuit, Toby Barelli has built a reputation as an extremely powerful performer, immensely engaging, entertaining audiences and challenging their perceptions of modern roots and blues. Toby was performing regularly with local bands at the age of 14, sitting in with anyone who would let him, style or genre didn't matter, he just wanted to play.
His tenacity paid off and shortly after leaving school Toby got his first professional work. Later he was invited to join the Two Tone legends "The Selecter". This led to worldwide touring and recording with many Ska and Reggae heroes, the influence of which is evident in Toby's rhythmic, syncopated approach to his music.
Performing around 150 solo shows a year, and in the wake of his debut solo album, Toby has become a "must see" act on the alt. blues circuit as well as at established venues and festivals around the UK.
Festival season summer 2011 saw Toby Barelli aka KING SIZE SLIM take to the stage at major festivals and smaller gatherings across the UK. The all new trio line-up has been rocking stages, tents and bandstands across the country with their particular mix of roots music.
Describing their busy summer Toby said "festivals are definitely where it's at for us right now...the audiences we've had this summer have been great, always up for a party, and we've proved we can get the floor dancing. The new trio sound mixes blues, reggae and new orleans sounds with many other influences but it is definitely our own style. We're a new band to most people, but it has only taken a tune or two for them to get where we're coming from and then when they get it , they really do get it...."
Winning praise from across the musical spectrum, with the likes of dance floor dub stars Dreadzone, BBC Jazz award winner Lianne Carrol, and British reggae legends Steel Pulse all taking time to congratulate the band in various after-show settings over the summer, Toby and the band are certainly making moves in the right direction.
